President-elect Election

The mail ballot for 2019-2020 SIA president-elect was sent to all clubs in good standing in early March. Resumes and videos for the four candidates can also be found on the SIA website. Ballots must be signed by two different club officers and received at headquarters on or before Thursday, May 2 to be counted.

Club Liability Insurance

To protect U.S. and Canadian clubs from general liability claims, clubs in those countries are required to purchase club general liability insurance. As a service, SIA headquarters manages the procurement of this group insurance coverage for the clubs under a master policy, where risks and costs are shared among all clubs in the pool. Effective April 1, there will be a change in your club liability insurance policy.

We have decided to go with Charity First to provide our club liability insurance coverage. Charity First is a provider of specialty non-profit insurance solutions and insures many large charitable organizations such as Boys & Girls Clubs and YMCA/YWCA’s. Our new insurance broker will be Pacific Ag insurance in Hanford, California. Pacific Ag is an independent insurance agency with several offices in California. Our dedicated staff member at Pacific Ag is Joanna Acosta. Her contact information is below. If Joanna is unavailable, please ask for JP Holeman, Petra Romero or Jordan Koelewyn and they will be able to assist you.

Charitable Donations

Past president Dawn Marie Lemonds welcoming SI/Center City member Adrienne Horen to the Laurel Society Inner Circle in 2018.

Adrienne Horen, SI/Center City, PA (North Atlantic Region) member, financial advisor and VP of Investments at Janney Montgomery Scott, has been an active donor and supporter of Soroptimist for over 30 years. We asked Adrienne to share her top tips for making the most of your charitable donations in 2019.

Make Dreams Come True—Monthly

Attaining Laurel Society recognition is now easier than ever! Consider a monthly gift and in no time you can be a part of SIA’s prestigious recognition program. Not to mention, monthly giving is a great for contributing in a way that fits your budget, while also providing continued funding for our Dream Programs! Best of all, when you enroll at your region conference with a monthly gift of $50 or more, you will receive an exclusive pin as a thank you from Soroptimist! Be sure to ask your region fundraising chair about this special offer. Prefer to enroll online? No problem! You can sign up for monthly giving on SIA’s website, but remember the pin is only available if you enroll at your region conference.

Program

Dream Program Updates

Your Live Your Dream Awards are distributed and the women honored, but there is so much more you can do for your recipients. Providing support beyond a cash award increases the impact of the program and deepens the relationship between your club and your recipients. Use these ideas to make it happen.

Dream It, Be It launched four years ago and has already helped more than 30,000 girls. But, do you know about the research that went into developing the program? Take a few minutes and read about the research behind the program.

Take One Step

Do you want to grow your Dream It, Be It project? Partners are the answer. Use the Community Partner Proposal to reach out to local organizations to help you grow the number of girls you serve.

Public Awareness

Social Media Ads

Advertising on social media is a great way to increase awareness about your club events, fundraisers and recruitment efforts. SIA provides ads for clubs to customize and distribute throughout your community (part of the Diamond Campaign recruitment tools). But did you ever think about using them on Facebook to promote to your online audience? Here are steps to use them digitally.
