Honoring UN’s Fourth International Day of Education

On January 24, 2022, Soroptimists will join the United Nations in celebrating the fourth International Day of Education under the theme "Changing Course, Transforming Education." The United Nations General Assembly declared this special day to empower all countries to increase their political commitment to education so that all children and youth may receive the benefits of a full education.

According to the UN, this year's International Day of Education focuses on strengthening education as a common good, steering the digital transformation, supporting teachers, safeguarding the planet, and unlocking every person's potential.

As Soroptimists, we know education is the key to women's empowerment. Ensuring girls have access to quality education is a way to provide them a lifeline when they need it most. In addition to giving them strengthened hope for the future, education also provides consistency, a sense of normalcy, and even physical safety in some cases.
